Dear Friends,

Help Tsunami affected Sri Lankan Children!

International Buddhist Center School Fund

The International Buddhist Center in Wheaton, Maryland invites you to join in an important project. Help tsunami affected Sri Lankan Children!

Help Provide School Kits to Tsunami Affected Sri Lankan Children

The equivalent of US$1.20 (US$ One and .20c) buys a basic school kit of notebook, pencils, pens, crayons, erasers, glue and scissors. We hope to immediately raise an initial increment of US$6000 to provide these kits to 5000 students.

The program is being administered by the social service and welfare unit of the 'Davagiri Rajamaha Vihara' center in Sri Lanka. We will directly deliver the funds and monitor their use.

Michel Dobbs wrote that major aid efforts “can and should be supplemented by other more personal networks built around direct ties between communities here and communities in the disaster affected areas. That way we can associate names and faces with the people we are trying to help, and have a built in accountability mechanism to track what happens to our money.
